The death toll rises to ten after a bus fell into the Rímac river, in Peru

The Highway Protection Division of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) has confirmed that ten people died after the bus in which they were traveling plunged into the Rímac River as it passed through the province of Huarochirí, in the Peruvian region. from Lima.

The head of the Division, Colonel Víctor Meza Farfán, has updated the figure at a press conference and has also detailed that 25 injured have been treated, five of them with a serious prognosis, according to the Andina agency.

The accident occurred at 02:30 in the morning (local time), when the vehicle, with around 50 passengers, overturned next to a cliff of about seven meters.

The authorities have also reported that the bus had all the appropriate permits, and have transferred the driver to the Chicla police station to be able to question him and find out more about the causes of the accident, of which nothing has yet been confirmed.
