The Government of Spain has decreed that several programs of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) are considered Events of Exceptional Public Interest (AEIP), thus adding to those already in force, with the aim of advancing in the public-private collaboration that promotes Spanish sport. Among the most outstanding programs there are the renewals of the Universo Mujer program and the Grassroots Sports Support Plan (ADB), as well as the new preparation program for Spanish athletes for Paris 2024.
For the president of the CSD, José Manuel Franco, recognition as AEIP supposes “the renewal of the Government’s commitment to gender equality in sport, to grassroots sports and to the Olympics”, and a new opportunity to “involve companies and private organizations in the mission of making Spanish sport grow in a fairer, more egalitarian and more inclusive way”.
In this way, the Universo Mujer (III) program reaches its third renewal, adding eight years of activity. It includes those projects that aim to promote and increase female participation and visibility in all areas of sport, in five main pillars: training, sports development, visibility, leadership and women, health and sports.
For its part, the 2030 Support Plan for Grassroots Sports is aimed at increasing the number of people who practice sports, detect sports talent and contribute to their comprehensive training, both in physical activity and academically, in addition to promoting healthy lifestyle habits. Likewise, it updates the previous plan (ADB 2020 II) to link it with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals that affect health and well-being.
Regarding the Program of Preparation of Spanish Athletes for the Paris 2024 Games, it will be the one that brings together the projects that ensure adequate technical-sports preparation of Spanish athletes in the next Summer Olympic Games.
These three programs They entered into force on January 1, 2022 and will be in effect until December 31, 2024.
