Which years are covered in season 6 of “The Crown”?
Season 5 ended in 1997 with the appointment of Tony Blair as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the handover of Hong Kong and the decommissioning of the Queen's beloved ship, the Britannia. In the season finale, Princess Diana accepted Mohamed Al-Fayed's invitation to vacation in Saint-Tropez.
The new episodes will follow directly afterwards. The sixth season of “The Crown” will cover the events of the late 90s to the early 2000s.

What will happen in “The Crown” Season 6?
As you can see in the first trailer of the season, the first few episodes focus on Princess Diana's life after her divorce. Her death alongside Dodi Fayed and its consequences will be the turning point of the final season.
Later episodes will likely feature the college romance between Prince William and Kate Middleton and the strengthening of the relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.
As confirmed by the creators, the series will not show the recent events in the life of the royal family. Season 6 will not address the wedding of William and Kate, Meghan Markle or the younger members of the royal family.
