The creators of Axie Infinity are developing a new crypto game: Kaidro

Sky Mavis, creator of the Ronin blockchain and the popular blockchain game Axie Infinity, announces a new game. It’s about Kaidro and takes place in a post-apocalyptic world.

Kaidro features an anime-inspired role-playing game that pits teams of three players against enemies using both mechs and magic. The game features a mix of game modes, including both player versus player (PvP) confrontations and player versus environment (PvE) challenges. The game will be released exclusively on Ronin. Kaidro was originally planned to launch on ImmutableX. The network was considered for Kaidro’s launch due to its reputation and technical characteristics as a gaming-focused Ethereum (ETH) scaling network.

Webcomic is becoming a crypto game

Kaidro is based on the webcomic of the same name by Gadget-Bot Productions. The webcomic team works with well-known authors such as Tim Hedrick, who worked on Avatar: The Last Airbender and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Gadget-Bot was founded by Peggy Chung and Robert Simons, both of whom have built impressive portfolios of work on prominent film and video game projects such as Jurassic World and Call of Duty.

The founder explained his vision last year. The possibilities of Web3 and non-fungible token technology (NFT) were seen as an innovative way to offer their fan base not only participation, but also actual participation in the vast world of Kaidro.

Gaming companies are leaning towards crypto

2024 could easily be the year of blockchain gaming. A study of 526 industry experts by the Blockchain Gaming Alliance shows that 40% expect traditional gaming companies to soon integrate blockchain and crypto technologies.

Almost 38% predict the launch of new games on Web3 platforms and the use of blockchain in existing titles. This suggests a growing recognition of the value of digital property rights in games. Despite this optimistic view, about 20% are skeptical about traditional developers moving to Web3. The survey, conducted between August and October 2023, shows different opinions on the integration of blockchain into the gaming industry.
