The Covid Passport app crashes in the UK, leaving hundreds of passengers on the ground

The UK COVID passport system was out of service for hours on Wednesday, which caused British travelers to be thrown into airports.

Some passengers were unable to board their flights, while others suffered delays as both the website and the National Health Service (NHS) app had issues.

The outage lasted about four hours and left many British travelers unable to access their vaccination records and present their COVID card to airlines.

Most UK airlines require proof of vaccination in print or digital format, thus, those who did not have a paper copy could not board.

Although the NHS issued a statement about “Covid Pass Access Problems”, did not specify the exact cause of the interruption.

While digital vaccination passports are practical, it is a good idea to carry a paper copy of proof of vaccination when traveling.
