Raphael Leo is the feeling of AC Milan. The Portuguese striker is their top scorer, an immovable figure and a benchmark in the Rossonero attack. Stefano Pioli has him fixed in his schemes and wants to renew him no matter what, but the road is being more complicated than normal. With Real Madrid on the lookout, Leao ends his contract in June 2024, so his renewal is in a hurry. At the moment, the negotiations are underway and Milan see that time is running out.
To make matters worse, the Portuguese star has imposed several conditions to accept the new contract and continue in Milan for several more seasons. As he has reported La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rafael Leao has ‘ordered’ Milan to be the highest paid player in the squad. Currently it is Theo Hernández (with 4.5 million a year), but Leao has asked for 3 million more. On the other hand, he demands a bonus of two million euros based on the goals he scores throughout the season. The last thing, that he negotiates with Sporting de Portugal the payment of a fine of 16.5 million, for unilateral termination of the contract.
The continuity of Leao in Milan is complicated
AC Milan is clear that they will not throw the house out the window in the renewal of Rafael Leao. They know that he is a player with a lot of potential, due to his age, and with excellent potential, but the demands he asks for are difficult to meet. Everything points to Rafael Leao leaving AC Milan at the end of the season in search of a new adventure in Europe.
