The COE and the Ministry of Inclusion agree to promote sport among refugees

The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, and the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration signed this Sunday a memorandum of understanding to promote sport in the international protection reception system.

The signing was carried out at the headquarters of the Madrid Football Federation and with it the COE ratifies its support for refugees and its commitment to inclusion through the practice of sport, reported the agency, which last June inaugurated in the Madrid town of Getafe the world’s first sports center for refugees with the name of its president.

After the signing, the president of the COE attended the final of the championship “The World in Motion”, a project promoted by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, in collaboration with Red Deporte, aimed at the social integration of people hosted in Refugee Care Centers (CAR), this time with the participation of residents of those located in Vallecas (Madrid) and Mislata (Valencia).

The Secretary of State for Migration, Jesús Perea, the president of the Madrid Football Federation, Paco Díez, the former national coach Vicente del Bosque, also attended the event. and the two godfathers of the event, the judoka Niko Shera, two-time world champion and Olympian in Tokyo, and the athlete Joan Lino, bronze in Athens 2004 in the long jump.
