New Delhi: India’s narrow-minded Modi government did not spare even its benefactors and tyrants, the chapter containing the teachings of Allama Iqbal was removed from the university curriculum.
According to the details, the administration of Delhi University has decided to remove the chapter based on the teachings of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the creator of ‘Sare Jahan Se Ucha, Hindustan Hamara’, from the university curriculum.
According to Indian media, the Academic Council of Delhi University (DU) has approved a resolution to remove a chapter based on the poet Millat Dr. Muhammad Iqbal from the political science syllabus, which has been confirmed by the members of the council. The Executive Council will take the final decision on this.
It may be noted that a council meeting was held yesterday during which the council approved a resolution to replace the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BLEd) program with a four-year integrated teacher education program.
6 members of the academic council expressed their disagreement against the proposal saying that there was no consultation with the teachers in this regard.
Officials said that the chapter titled ‘Modern Indian Political Thought’ is part of the BA sixth semester syllabus, and the matter will now be placed before the university’s executive council, which will take a final decision.
A member of the academic council said that a resolution was brought regarding changes in the political science syllabus. According to which there was a chapter on Iqbal which has been removed from the syllabus.
Meanwhile, figures associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have welcomed the development.
