With the departures of Salomón Rondón and Matías Suárez, River Plate is forced to look for a striker to improve the hierarchy of its squad, especially given the demanding Copa Libertadores. Although there are local options such as Miguel Borja, Facundo Colidio and Agustín Ruberto, the multi-million dollar management is looking for a renowned attacker who can take on continental challenges.
Lucas Alario sounded strong, but River never progressed based on his current performance. Although there was interest in Matías Arezo, talks with Granada failed and the attempt to sign José López was met with reluctance from Palmeiras to sell him. Faced with this panorama, the millionaire leaders have turned their attention to an acquaintance: Rafael Santos Borré.

Journalist Germán García Grova reports that River Plate has seen the conditions for the repatriation of Borré, who currently plays for German club Werder Bremen. Although the Colombian left on a free transfer in mid-2022, his time at Eintracht Frankfurt did not live up to expectations and led him to leave the club.
Borré is about to return to South America
While Inter Porto Alegre is negotiating with the Germans for Borré, offering just over $5 million to buy his passport, River's call could change course if it is accompanied by concrete interest and an offer. Nothing is certain at the moment and Borré's return seems difficult in this transfer market, considering the investment the club would have to make for a player who left on a free transfer.
Currently, Borré has played 13 games for Werder Bremen in Germany, scoring four goals. His loan runs until June 30th, and if his sale in this transfer market does not go through, he will have to return to Eintracht Frankfurt. The possibility of his return to River Plate remains uncertain and the Argentine club faces the challenge of making an offer that could change the Colombian striker's fortunes.
