‘The Big Short’ author announces book on FTX demise

Can you still do the demise of Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF). cryptoexchange ftx to remind? Fixed, because it was only 6 early months ago. The crypto market has only just climbed out of the valley when a book is already being announced about the drama. Nor is it about the slightest author. Michael Lewis is the writer and is known for classics such as “The Big Short” and “Moneyball”, both of which have also been made into films.

Lewis spoke on May 19 at the Bitcoin Conference 2023 in Miami about its upcoming stronghold. Titled “Going Infinite: the Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon,” Lewis aims to present the story of the FTX collapse. The book will be available in October.

Ironically, it was not Lewis’ initial plan to write about the exchange’s collapse. In 2021, a friend of the writer introduced him to Sam Bankman-Fried. Michael Lewis decided after that meeting to write a book about the impressive growth of the company. The author was unsuspecting about the malpractice behind the company. During the collapse in November 2022, Lewis was almost done with the book. The whole drama and the charges against SBF afterwards caused a completely new turn.

During the Bitcoin Conference, the writer spoke out about the book. Surprisingly, he said the following:

“I thought I didn’t have a book. I missed a third act. I didn’t know how to end it. A week later, FTX exploded. I was so grateful.’”

While the demise of the crypto exchange suited Lewis’s book well, users lost billions in total crypto. The author declined to provide further details about the book. He did say that he had experienced the debacle up close, which hopefully resulted in interesting insights.
