Vivek Agnihotri’s newest film, “The Bengal Files,” hit theaters on September 5th. Before its release, the movie was everywhere, stirring up plenty of conversations and even some debates. With all that buzz, many expected big things. But now, as it completes its fourth day, the audience reaction isn’t quite what everyone hoped for.
A Slow Start for “The Bengal Files”
The film began its box office journey with a modest 1.75 crore rupees on its opening day. Things looked a little brighter over the weekend. On Saturday, its second day, the collection grew to 2.25 crore rupees. Sunday, typically a strong day for movies, saw it earn 2.75 crore rupees. However, the real test came on Monday, and the numbers tell a different story.
The Monday Test Results Are In
On Monday, its fourth day, “The Bengal Files” saw a steep drop in earnings. Initial reports show the film collected only 62 lakh rupees. This significant dip means it didn’t pass the crucial Monday box office test. After four days, the total collection for the movie stands at 7.37 crore rupees. Considering the film was made with a budget of roughly 30 crore rupees, this gap is quite noticeable.
Meet the Team Behind “The Bengal Files”
Vivek Agnihotri directed “The Bengal Files,” bringing his vision to the screen. He also produced the film alongside Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Simrat Kaur, Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Saswat Chatterjee, Pallavi Joshi, and Namashi Chakraborty.
Falling Short of Expectations
Many had high hopes that “The Bengal Files” would replicate the massive success of Agnihotri’s previous blockbuster, “The Kashmir Files.” That film was a box office phenomenon. However, after its first four days, “The Bengal Files” hasn’t shown signs of reaching those heights. It’s also facing stiff competition at the box office, going up against “Baaghi 4,” starring Tiger Shroff and Sanjay Dutt.
