The Puerto Plata Superior Baseball League recognized today the outstanding former major league baseball player and current national baseball commissioner Junior Noboa. The recognition took place at the inauguration of the second top baseball tournament organized by that entity and which was attended by the businessman Sixto Peralta, head of a group of his class that is taking the first steps for the girlfriend of the Atlantic to own a franchise of winter baseball.
Noboa received a plaque from Manuel Frias, president of the league, in the company of Peralta, Aridio Perdomo, Vinicio Clase, and other sports leaders and public officials.
Frias, visibly moved, said that it is an honor for him to lead the recognition since Noboa was his idol in professional baseball and that he always dreamed of being like him and today he can recognize it. He also appreciated the support given by the commissioner since his current duties.
Noboa, for his part, thanked on behalf of his family and his wife Llabil, their children and their parents for the distinction. He said that he has a commitment to Puerto Plata to fight hand in hand until the people of Puerto Plata can have a franchise in winter baseball. He congratulated the organizers and expressed his willingness to collaborate with the League’s initiatives.
Noboa was accompanied by his wife Llabil and Diogenes de la Cruz.
Also present was Valentín Contreras from the Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic, chaired by VItelio Mejía Ortiz.
