The danger of CBDCs

CBDCs are digital currencies issued by a central bank. Almost all countries are exploring the possibilities for a CBDC. This also applies to the United States. In some countries such as China and Nigeria, CBDCs have been in circulation for years. Some people are concerned about what CBDCs would mean for citizens’ privacy, among other things.

Last week, Donald Trump promised never to approve a CBDC if he becomes president. Kennedy Jr., also a presidential candidate, now also comments on CBDCs in the shared video.

“Any transaction you make, whatever you do, the government will know about it and you are vulnerable to blackmail and influence peddling. It is a human rights disaster.”

According to Kennedy Jr. who is obviously worried about CBDCs. He also mentions the situation in China, where he believes the digital yuan is being used to control people. Kennedy Jr. hints that he never wants things to get that far in the United States. If he becomes president, he will “thwart all steps towards a CBDC.”

Kennedy Jr. supports Bitcoin

It is not entirely clear whether CBDCs are really dangerous. However, Kennedy Jr. was willing to do anything to save money. But surprisingly, he also spoke positively about Bitcoin (BTC). He believed that Bitcoin was the best financial protection.

Kennedy Jr., like Trump, is in the presidential race this November. However, Kennedy Jr. is running as an independent candidate. This means he is neither a Democrat nor a Republican. Among Republicans, Trump will almost certainly win the primary. The likelihood that Kennedy Jr. has a real chance against Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden is slim.
