American actress, screenwriter and director Kristen Stewart will chair the jury of the 73rd edition of the Berlin Film Festival, which will take place from February 16 to 26, 2023, the organizers announced on Friday December 9. “We are delighted to have attracted Kristen Stewart for this exceptional task. She is one of the most talented and versatile actresses of her generation.“, greeted in a press release the directing duo of the Berlinale, Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian. “Young, on the rise and with an impressive body of work under her belt, Kristen Stewart is the perfect link between the United States and Europe.e”, add the two leaders of the festival.
The actress starts directing
Revealed as a child in the film Panic Room by David Fincher, Kristen Stewart then saw her career explode with her role in the series Twilight. She has since played in several films by French director Olivier Assayas (Sils Maria, Personal Shopper). She also toured with Woody Allen (Café society).
Kristen Stewart, 32, also directed a music video for Scottish band Chvrches as well as a short film (below) in 2018, the year during which she sat on the jury of the Cannes festival. She is currently preparing her first feature film, the adaptation of the bestseller The Chronology of Water by American writer Lidia Yuknavich.
