The ugly face of the Modi government has been exposed once again, the map of ‘Akhand Bharat’ on the wall of the Indian Parliament exposed Modi’s extremism to the world.
A mural depicting the influence of ancient Indian thought on the Indian Parliament building showed that it represented a commitment to a united India, described by the RSS as a ‘cultural concept’.
According to RSS, the concept of Akhand Bharat refers to an undivided India whose geographical extent was vast in ancient times, i.e. present-day Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand.
The Modi government is now adamant that the concept of Akhand Bharat should be seen in a cultural context and not a political one, given India’s division along religious lines at the time of independence.
The new Parliament building was inaugurated by Narendra Modi on May 28, marking important states and cities of the past and showing the influence of ancient India in what was then Taxila in present-day Pakistan. He shared pictures of artworks inside Parliament House, including ancient India, Chanakya, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and BR Ambedkar and maps of the country’s cultural diversity.
A BJP leader from Karnataka wrote: “In the new Parliament, Akhand Bharat represents our strong and self-reliant India,” said Manoj Kotick, a member of the Lok Sabha from Mumbai. To show the influence of Fiqr, it extended from present-day Afghanistan in the northwestern region to Southeast Asia.”
