Next Saturday, October 8, the Battle of the Strait road to AFL will take place in Algeciras. The evening will feature 14 combats, seven amateurs and seven professionals, world-class. This event will be the first for the AFL, the largest MMA company in Spain, to be broadcast on the DAZN platform globally, so its reach will increase considerably.
The main event of the night will feature 26-year-old promise David Er-Ramy (5-1) and 41-year-old veteran Evasio D’Onofrio (12-7) in the middleweight class. It will be the first time the golden-boy headline an AFL bill, though it’s not something he’s worried about, and he says he wants to “get the audience up and out of their seats.” His rival is coming off an arm injury, but he feels ready for the challenge. “I haven’t been in the octagon in five years, but I’ve never stopped training. I will give everything and I will never give up”, explains the Andalusian fighter. The fight will be a great clash between the two.
On the card we also find the confrontation between local fighter Said Krikri (3-2) and Lucas Xavier (4-2) at light heavyweight, and Paul Marconnie (5-2) with Shane Moreno (2-1) at middleweight. Colombian Miguel Ángel Lozano remains undefeated with three wins and will fight Álex Herrera. “The camp is being perfect and I am prepared for war,” explains Lozano, “I expect a crazy fight and finish in the first round.” The goal of the Colombian is to get two more victories and take a short break. David Mora (6-4) will have Gabriel Lanza (1-2) as his rival in the lightweight, and explains that he “is in the best physical and mental shape of his career”. Despite coming off a loss, Mora assures that he will put on a great show and that “we have to set the bar high”. In addition, Jyl Pozo (3-1) will face Fabrice Yagoue (0-2) also in lightweight and Imad Bouamri (5-5) will face Weverton dos Santos (0-1) in bantamweight.
