The “Abejón” Fortuna, “Banana” Rosario and Dahiana on the same billboard on the 20th

Former world champions Javier “El Abejón” Fortuna, Jeison “Banana” Rosario and Dahiana Santana will be the main protagonists in the 100th billboard organized by the company Manguita Boxing and which is scheduled to be held on the 20th of this month, starting at three in the afternoon, in the fencing pavilion of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

The details of the event were offered in the framework of a press conference held in the James Rodríguez room of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, which was led by César Mercedes, president of the organizing company; the Administrative Deputy Minister of Sports, Franklin de la Mota; the Professional Boxing Commissioner, Ramón Valdez, as well as some of the boxers who will perform at the event.

Fortuna, former double world champion, will face Venezuelan Rafael Hernández in the 135-pound division (lightweight).

On his side, Jeison “Banana” Rosario, who once unified three world titles in the same night, will cross gloves with the Venezuelan Jesús Pérez.

In the same event, former world champion Dahiana Santana, from the Dominican Republic, will also enter the ring to face her compatriot Rocío De León.

Another of the fighters who will act on the card is Dominican prospect Raúl “El Domador” García, holder of an undefeated record of 6-0, who will play against another undefeated, Francisco Ernesto Sánchez (13-0).

The billboard will also feature the performance of the Dominican promises Kenny “Chocolate” de León (11-0) and Esteuri Suero (9-0).

“This is a luxury billboard, with which our company will celebrate its 100th event,” said Mercedes.

He recalled that his first boxing event was presented in 1998, which is why 24 years of hard work have passed in favor of boxing and the boxers of the Dominican Republic.

The evening, which has the support of the Ministry of Sports, will begin at three in the afternoon on Sunday the 23rd of this month.

De la Mota congratulates

The Vice Minister of Sports, Franklin de la Mota, on behalf of Minister Francisco Camacho, valued the work that the Manguita Boxing company and its president, César Mercedes, have been doing for 24 years.

“Ours from the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho and my own, congratulate César Mercedes and his company and wish him the greatest success in this great event,” he said. He pointed out that it is in the interest of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to support sport in all its manifestations and that this is precisely what is being done by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

The press conference was also attended by the National Professional Boxing Commissioner, Ramón Valdez, who highlighted the great support that the government has been offering to boxing and sports in general.
