Back to school time will soon strike. And with it, its share of new albums to discover to forget the ambient grayness. French variety, rock, pop, metal or electro, music lovers will find their happiness.
Barbara pravi
With her title “Voila”, the one compared to Edith Piaf rose to second place in the Eurovision Song Contest last May, behind Italians Måneskin. Barbara Pravi is releasing her first album on Friday August 27th called “We don’t lock up the birds”, on which she has been working for seven years. “I built this album like a story, everyone makes their own imagination, it’s a path,” explains the 28-year-old singer. She speaks of love, of battles “to be won gently”, of her family. Barbara Pravi continues her European tour until November 2022.
Yann Tiersen
Le Breton will present this Friday August 27 the opus “Kerber”, which is intended as a new adventure between piano and electro. A nugget born within Eskal, a studio he created in Ouessant, an island to which Yann Tiersen is very attached, and which follows the album “Portrait” unveiled in 2019. “It’s not about of an album of “dance music” and of a 180 degree turn, but rather of a beautifully textured, highly immersive and carefully constructed electronic world into which one can enter, “the statement read. Each piece is intimately linked to a place near his house.
Iron maiden
They have sold over 100 million records and performed some 2,000 concerts in some sixty countries. The legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, still led by Bruce Dickinson, returns on September 3 with a 17e album, “Senjutsu”. This new musical project, which was imaged by Mark Wilkinson, was produced in 2019 at the Guillaume Tell studio, near Paris. Each song was recorded even as it had just been written and rehearsed by the members of the group formed in 1975.
Daniel Auteuil
Already, in his bassinet, actor Daniel Auteuil could hear the vocalizations of his parents, opera and operetta singers. No wonder then that the actor decides, at 71, to get into music and release his very first album on September 17, designed by Gaëtan Roussel (former leader of Louise Attaque), on which will appear “If you m ‘had known’, illustrated by a clip with Fanny Ardant. After discovering a collection of poems at home, Daniel Auteuil wanted to take his guitar and put them to music… and sometimes even while filming. “All my life I have strived to pursue my dreams and I have no more time to waste,” he said recently.
Coldplay
And new for Chris Martin’s sidekicks. After the intergalactic release last May of “Higher Power” that astronaut Thomas Pesquet was able to discover from space, Coldplay will unveil their new album “Music of the spheres” on October 15. In July, the group uploaded an unreleased track called “Coloratura”. The dates for the world tour are expected to be announced shortly.
Ed sheeran
His single “Bad Habits”, with its electro sounds and which marks a turning point in his musical career, was a hit this summer. Bodes well for Ed Sheeran’s next album, which will be released this fall and will be accompanied by a major tour. The Briton, who had moved away from the studios, experienced mourning with the disappearance of producer Michael Gudinski, and recently became a dad, says it will be “the opus of maturity”.
Stromae
Eight years after the release of his phenomenon album “Racine Carrée”, which included the hits “Formidable”, “All the same” and “Papaoutai”, the Belgian singer, whose real name is Paul Van Haver, is said to have planned to return to the take center stage in the fall. If he has collaborated in recent years with artists like OrelSan, Stromae, who has also developed his clothing brand with his partner and his brother, had chosen to distance himself in 2015 after a final concert in Kigali in Rwanda. Burnout and depression seem to be behind him.
