The 40 million commitment that Ten Hag demanded from Manchester United

Manchester United are aiming to strengthen their defense and are reportedly interested in signing talented English defender Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan. Valued at €40 million, Tomori has caught the attention of the English club following his outstanding performances in Serie A.

The 25-year-old defender, who left Chelsea to join Milan in 2021, has been a key figure in the Rossoneri’s defence. According to reports from MilanWeb, his performance has attracted interest from Manchester United, who are closely following his performances in Italy. Tomori has played 127 games for AC Milan, helping them win the league title in the 2021/22 season and leading the team to the Champions League semi-finals last season.

Tomori, one of Italy’s best central defenders

Despite his excellent performances, Tomori has failed to secure a regular place in the England squad, with Gareth Southgate favoring Manchester United’s Harry Maguire. However, according to observers, his outstanding performance against Newcastle United in the Champions League could change that dynamic.

Manchester United are looking to strengthen their defense and would like to complete the signing of Tomori in the near future. Uncertainty over the future of Raphael Varane, who has lost ground under coach Erik ten Hag, could hasten United’s move for the Milan defender.

Although AC Milan have no plans to let Tomori leave mid-season, a potential summer move is seen as a serious option. The Italian club, which is demanding at least 40 million euros for the defender, would be willing to negotiate funding for squad improvements at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Manchester United are “pushing” to land Tomori as a long-term option in their defence.
