The judiciary brought charges against the 22-year-old man, who was arrested as the main suspect killing of a 61-year-old man, in Rivera.
The crime occurred early Tuesday afternoon in the Paso de la Estiba neighborhood. The two got into an argument and the young man grabbed a machete and caused “multiple wounds,” he reported at the time. Underlined.
The defendant was in custody at the time and after the court hearing on Wednesday it was announced that he would have to serve 120 days in preventive detention for murder. He will therefore wait for the final court ruling.
The murder weapon was a machete with a 35 centimeter long blade, which was confiscated at the crime scene in front of the victim’s home.
