Thailand’s King Amasses $43 Billion Fortune, 40,000 Homes, 50 Yachts

Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn, known as Rama X, has consolidated an estimated personal fortune of $30 billion to $43 billion, placing him among the world’s wealthiest monarchs, largely through a controversial 2017 legal maneuver that transferred vast state assets into his private ownership.

This reform, personally signed by King Vajiralongkorn, gave him full control over the Crown Property Bureau (CPB). The CPB is the entity responsible for administering the assets of the Thai Crown.

The move effectively transformed what was previously considered state heritage into the king’s personal property. This shift is a key factor in his extraordinary financial power.

The monarch’s estimated wealth puts him at the top tier of royal fortunes globally. His accumulation of wealth has contributed to his status as one of the most controversial figures in international monarchies.

His assets are reported to include an immense portfolio of properties, estimated at 40,000 houses. He also possesses more than 300 luxury cars, 38 private jets, and a fleet of 50 yachts.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn ascended the throne on October 13, 2016. In the years since, he has also consolidated significant political power.
