TFT Set 10 Returns with Musical Battle Mode and Exciting New Features May 2025

Riot Games is bringing back a fan favorite – Teamfight Tactics’ (TFT) Musical Battle mode, originally part of Set 10, for a limited time. This auto-chess mode made waves in late 2023 with its unique blend of gameplay and Runeterra characters.

The mode is returning with some key changes. New set return enhancements will be added, featuring beloved traits like K/DA, True Damage, HEARTSTEEL, and Pentakill. The specifics of these enhancements will be revealed closer to the release date.

What’s New

Several features are being brought back and updated for this limited-time mode:

  • Opening Encounters will return, with Jhin, Urgot, and K/DA stars taking center stage.
  • The current set’s mechanics, known as Hacks, will make a special appearance, with Headliners leading the way.
  • A new Little Legend will be introduced as part of a new Event Pass.
  • The Return Progression system will continue to allow players to unlock new ranks and free rewards.

Christina Jiang, Senior Product Manager for TFT, said, “This return will bring several new features while offering players the functionality they already know and love.” Ryan “milala” Lai, the winner of the Musical Battle Championship, called Set 10 “the best set of all time” in a Riot Games video.

The Return: Musical Battle will be available from Update 14.4 (May 14, 2025) to Update 15.1 (July 29, 2025). Players can mark their calendars to experience this temporary auto-chess mode.
