  • The four most successful fast bowlers in 145-year history

Test cricket has been played for 145 years. This format of cricket started in 1877. Since then more than two thousand Test matches have been played. Hundreds of fast bowlers have come and gone in these matches, but no one has touched the point where there are four fast bowlers in the world.

Only four rapid launchers to take over 500 wickets

So far only four fast bowlers in world cricket have taken more than 500 wickets in Test cricket. These four fast bowlers are: James Anderson, Glenn McGrath, Stuart Broad and Courtney Walsh. McGrath and Walsh retired from international cricket several years ago. Kangaroo legend McGrath has 563 wickets in 124 games, while Walsh has taken 519 wickets in 132 games. England’s Anderson and Broad are still active on the international circuit and are both also the most successful fast bowlers in the world.

Anderson is the only fast bowler to take over 600 wickets

When Anderson arrived on the pitch to bowl in the early innings of the series final Test match against India, he had 651 wickets in 171 Tests. After four sessions of play, he raised his wicket count to 656. He took India’s five-wicket tour in the early innings. English legend Jimmy is the only fast bowler in the world to have taken more than 600 wickets in world test cricket. He turns 40 in a few days, so it’s hard to say how long he’ll be seen playing on the pitch. If he has the courage to take another year, he too may become the first fast bowler to take 700 wickets in Test cricket.
