Tesla Prepares to Bring Electric Semi Truck to Europe Market

Tesla is gearing up to bring its electric truck to Europe. Despite sluggish sales of its electric cars in the region, the company is making moves to introduce the Tesla Semi to European roads. The Semi was first unveiled in 2017, with production initially slated for 2019. However, several delays pushed back its mass production.

In 2022, Tesla showcased a “production-ready” version of the Semi, but only produced a limited number of units. Even in the US, the Semi is still a rare sight, with only a handful of units being used by select customers and Tesla itself. The company has announced plans to build a dedicated Semi factory in the US, with production expected to start by the end of 2025 and reach a capacity of 50,000 electric trucks per year.

Is the Tesla Semi heading to Europe?

According to a report by Electrek, Tesla is building a team to bring the Semi to Europe. Usuf Schermo, a seasoned executive with a background in engineering economics and energy management, has joined Tesla as Director of Business Development for the Semi in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Schermo previously led sales at Volta Trucks in Germany and EVUM Motors GmbH, a startup that builds small commercial vehicles.

Although the exact timeline for the Semi’s European launch is unclear, Tesla has already announced plans to produce the truck at its Gigafactory in Berlin. With Schermo on board, it seems the company is stepping up its efforts to bring the Semi to European markets. The move could signal a significant shift in the region’s electric vehicle landscape, as the Semi is poised to revolutionize the commercial trucking industry with its sustainable and efficient technology.

Tesla’s plans for the Semi in Europe are still unfolding, but one thing is certain – the company is committed to making a splash in the region’s electric vehicle market. As the Semi prepares to hit European roads, it will be interesting to see how the company navigates the complex regulatory landscape and adapts its technology to meet local demands. One thing is for sure, the arrival of the Tesla Semi in Europe is likely to send shockwaves through the industry, and its impact will be felt for years to come.
