Tesla Model Y Sales Plummet Amid Eco Bonus Validation Delay

Thousands of Tesla Model Y cars are ready to be delivered to customers in France, but the process has come to a grinding halt. What’s holding up the deliveries? The reason lies in a delay in validating the car’s environmental score by the French Agency for Ecological Transition, ADEME. This score is required for customers to receive an ecological bonus of €2,000 to €4,000.

The Tesla Model Y Propulsion, produced in the Gigafactory, meets all the necessary criteria for the bonus, including price, weight, and European production. However, without the ADEME’s validation, customers are being forced to choose between waiting for the bonus or giving it up to receive their cars sooner. Some customers have already decided to waive their right to the bonus, while others are opting to wait, hoping that the validation will be completed soon.

Deliveries on Hold

The initial delivery schedule for May has been pushed back to mid-June, but the situation remains uncertain. The delay may persist until July, when a new system of energy savings certificates is expected to take effect. This new system, set to start on July 1, 2025, may bring an end to the current ecological bonus scheme.
