Tesla Model Y L Video Showcases Cargo Space, Fuels China Sales Surge

Finding enough room for everything is a constant battle for many car owners. Whether you’re packing for a family vacation or hauling sports gear, a spacious trunk often makes or breaks a car purchase. It’s not just about long trips either. Enough storage helps keep baby strollers, shopping, or even small furniture moves easy. A car with a big trunk also keeps the inside neat. This makes the ride safer and more comfortable for everyone.

Tesla seems to understand this challenge. They recently highlighted the roomy storage of their new Model Y L. This six-seater version is now available in China. The company shared a video to really show off its cargo capacity.

Tesla Shows Off Model Y L Trunk Space

The video, posted by a user named Ray on X, gave viewers a clear picture. It shows just how many bags fit into the Model Y L. The demonstration starts by showing two common bag sizes. One is a larger cabin-sized bag, measuring 350 mm by 240 mm by 560 mm. The other is a smaller bag, sized 235 mm by 130 mm by 320 mm.

Watch the video to see the impressive results:

With the back seats folded flat, the Model Y L trunk swallowed a surprising number of items. In total, the car fit 20 cabin-sized bags and 25 smaller bags. Plus, the front trunk, located under the hood, held two additional bags. This means plenty of space for family trips or big shopping hauls.

Model Y L Boosts Tesla’s China Sales

This focus on storage seems to be a smart move for Tesla in China. The market there is very tough, with many strong local car brands. Tesla’s sales in China had been a bit slow. But the launch of the six-seater Model Y L appears to be changing that.

Since its release on August 19, the Model Y L has seen strong demand. Orders have hit 120,000 units so far. That’s about 10,000 orders every day. This information comes from a Tesla salesperson, as reported by local media Cailian. Deutsche Bank also shared positive news. A research note from late August stated that new orders for Tesla China could double from the previous month. They predicted about 130,000 units. The bank noted this growth is mostly due to the new six-seater, long-wheelbase Model Y L SUV.

Tesla expects to start delivering the Model Y L in October. It comes in three different versions. The basic rear-wheel-drive model starts at RMB 263,500, which is about 31,460 Euros. The long-range all-wheel-drive version costs RMB 313,500, roughly 37,430 Euros. Finally, the six-seater model begins at RMB 339,000, or around 40,470 Euros.
