Tesla Model Y L Six-Seater SUV Now Available in China

Tesla is making big moves in the Chinese auto scene. The company, led by Elon Musk, just launched the new Model Y L. This vehicle isn’t just another electric car; it’s a smart play to grab more of the Chinese market. It shows how good Tesla is at understanding what customers want and adapting its cars to fit those needs.

This new Model Y L is a version of their popular Model Y SUV, but with a twist. It offers six seats and a much longer range, giving families more space and less range anxiety. It’s available right now, priced at 40,560 euros, which is about 339,000 Chinese Yuan. Deliveries are set to begin in September.

Bigger Body, Slicker Design

The Model Y L is noticeably longer than the standard Model Y. Its total length stretches to 4,976 mm. It measures 1,920 mm wide and 1,668 mm tall. The distance between the front and rear wheels, known as the wheelbase, also grew to 3,040 mm. This means the car’s body is 18 cm longer, and its wheelbase is 15 cm longer than the standard version. Tesla also made a few small tweaks to the car’s outside look.

One cool change is how they made the car more slippery. They tweaked the roofline and added a sharper rear spoiler. These small design shifts help the car cut through the air better. This brings its drag number down to an impressive 0.216. When you fold down the second and third rows of seats, the back cargo space opens up to a massive 2,539 liters. That’s a lot of room for gear or groceries.

Inside the Cabin: Tech and Comfort Upgrades

Step inside the Model Y L, and you’ll find some serious upgrades. A large 16-inch touchscreen now sits in the middle of the dashboard. The front wireless charging spot got an update. It can now charge two devices at the same time, one at 50 watts and the other at 30 watts.

The sound system also got a major boost. Tesla added new speakers to the center console and the roof. The updated system boasts 18 speakers and a subwoofer. This means your music will sound richer and clearer.

Comfort is key in this new Model Y L. The second and third row seats move and fold on their own with electric controls. Even the second row seats come with electric armrests. The two front rows of seats are cooled, and every seat in the car is heated. Plus, passengers in the second and third rows now have their own charging ports, keeping everyone’s devices powered up.

Power and Range That Impress

Under the hood, or rather, the floor, the Model Y L boasts an all-wheel drive system with two motors. The front motor delivers 142 kilowatts, which is about 190 horsepower. The rear motor is even stronger, churning out 198 kilowatts, or 266 horsepower. This powerful setup means the Model Y L can sprint from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds.

The car gets its juice from an 82 kWh NMC battery. This battery is made by LG Energy Solutions, a big name in the industry. On a full charge, the Model Y L can travel an impressive 751 kilometers, based on CLTC measurements. It’s also quite efficient, using just 12.8 kWh of energy for every 100 kilometers driven.
