Teoscar and Jansen hit home runs; Blue Jays beat Rays

Teoscar Hernandez and Danny Jansen homered in the eighth inning, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 on Saturday to end a five-game losing streak.

Hernandez, who had missed three weeks of activity with a sore left oblique, hit his second home run of the season. Jansen, activated Saturday after being sidelined for a month with a strained left oblique, hit his third homer in just his ninth at-bat this year. The two homers came off Ryan Thompson (1-2), who also gave up singles from Santiago Espinal and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. during the four-run deciding inning. Tim Mayza (2-0) got the win in relief after striking out two of his three opponents in the seventh inning. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. He scored on Espinal’s sacrifice fly. Cuban Yandy Díaz opened the first inning for Tampa with a home run, his third of the season. For the Blue Jays, the Dominicans Guerrero 5-1 with a run scored, Hernández 5-2 with a run scored and one produced, Espinal 3-2 with a run scored, Raimel Tapia 3-0. Mexican Alejandro Kirk 3-0. Cuban Gurriel 4-1 with an RBI. For the Rays, the Cubans Yandy Díaz 3-1 with a run scored and an RBI, Randy Arozarena 4-2. The Dominicans Wander Franco 4-0, Manuel Margot 3-2, Vidal Bruján 4-0.
