Teófilo Gutiérrez warms up the duel against Boca Juniors

The Deportivo Cali striker from Colombia Teófilo Gutiérrez, with a past in River Plate, asked the fans of the Núñez club to “make strength” next Thursday when they face Boca, in La Bombonera, for the last date of group E of the Cup Liberators.

“It’s a place (on the Boca field) in which I’m doing well. Let’s hope that the River fan will make strength (for Deportivo Cali),” Gutiérrez told ESPN, upon the arrival of the Colombian team in Buenos Aires.

Cali leads the area with 8 points (the same number of points as Corinthians from Brazil) and with a tie they will qualify for the round of 16, with the possibility of leaving Boca (7) on the way.

“Hopefully the team can flow; it’s the most important thing. We are going to find ourselves in a very difficult environment. We have to be calm and balanced. Play the ball well. In this Cup we are a very regular team when it comes to playing visitor and we hope to finalize our classification”, assured the ex-Racing and River striker.

“It’s going to be a nice match. They need to win. We know what we have to do on the pitch. We think of ourselves and of playing a good match. We must be very safe at the back and unbalanced at the front,” he added.

Finally, Gutiérrez palpitated how he will be received by the Boca fans in the very Bombonera: “I will be received as always. But that is football, that is the joy of the Argentine, who is very passionate. With this weather it is very nice play, I really enjoy it.
