Tenerife’s Preseason Struggles Continue: Amo Suffers Serious Injury

Tenerife’s Preseason Nightmare Continues: Another Cruciate Ligament Rupture

The Canary Island club is facing yet another summer of injury woes, with defender José Amo joining a growing list of players to suffer serious injuries to their joints.

According to sources, Amo ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during a training session under coach Oscar Cano, leaving the team with only one professional right-handed center-back, newcomer Juande Rivas.

The setback has left Tenerife with no choice but to search for a replacement, with sporting director Mauro Pérez confirming that the team is considering incorporating another right-hander to the central line. Pérez also emphasized the importance of being mindful of the team’s salary cap and exploring youth talent.

The King of Summer Misfortune

Tenerife’s woes are not limited to Amo. Javi Alonso, another player who has suffered a similar fate, tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in August 2023. This is not his first such injury, as he also fractured the anterior cruciate ligament and the external meniscus of his right knee in the summer of 2021.

The repeated injuries have left Alonso without opportunities to progress with Tenerife, and next season he will play on loan at Algeciras from First RFEF.

Tenerife’s preseason has been marked by a series of injuries, with the team’s management facing a daunting task to rebuild their squad and overcome their summer misfortune.
