Telenovela Star Alejandro Landero: Street Living With Pets, Not Abandoned

Mexican actor Alejandro Landero has addressed recent viral reports showing him in a seemingly dire street situation. Landero clarified that while his circumstances are "precarious," he is not "abandoned."

Social media widely shared images of the actor. He was seen sleeping on a bench in the Condesa neighborhood in Mexico City. He was accompanied by his four cats and a dog named Max.

An account, @LaRomaMex, circulated a video asking for assistance for "neighbor actor Alejandro Landero." Early reports from TVyNovelas suggested he was homeless after being unable to pay rent and had been jobless for months.

In new statements to TVNotas, Landero, prominent in 1980s Mexican telenovelas, spoke out. He stated his current condition is "definitely a precarious situation." However, he emphasized it is "not a street situation as such, that I am abandoned."

Landero further explained his choice was a "conscious decision." He stated he did not want to abandon his pets. "I had nowhere to go and I wasn’t going to leave ‘my children,’ that’s why I’m here," he said.

He confirmed his wife’s family and nephews are providing support. Landero had plans to move to Puerto Vallarta, but promised assistance did not materialize. He did not provide further details.

The actor, known for ‘Rosa Salvaje,’ expressed gratitude for the public’s support following the viral video. "I am currently going through a difficult situation, a tough test," he shared. He added that "God always shows you the paths and puts the right people in your life."

TVNotas also reported Landero mentioned his wife’s concern for him. He declined to name her, citing her public profile. He stated he wished to protect her from potential attacks.

Alejandro Landero rose to fame in 1987. He played "Rigo Camacho" in ‘Rosa Salvaje’ alongside Verónica Castro. This role was a significant part of the era’s popular telenovelas.

His career included other successful productions. These were ‘Imperio de Cristal’ (1994), ‘Pasión y Poder’ (1988), ‘Monte Calvario’ (1986), and ‘Entre la vida y la muerte’ (1993). Landero’s secondary roles were crucial to the storytelling of these productions.
