Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has publicly withdrawn earlier statements made about actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and his family. She issued the retraction on social media. This action follows a defamation suit filed by Nagarjuna in October of last year.
Surekha had previously claimed that Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president, was responsible for the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Her remarks extended to making several claims about Nagarjuna’s family.
In her recent post on X, Surekha stated, “I want to clarify that the statement I made about Nagarjuna was not intended to hurt Nagarjuna or his family members.” She added, “If my statements hurt anyone, I apologize for it. I withdraw the statement.”

Social media users quickly reacted to her post. Many questioned why her withdrawal and apology focused solely on Nagarjuna. They pointed out that her original comments also involved Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and KTR.
One user wrote, “What about Samantha? You are a respected woman and hold one of the highest positions in your state. Please think carefully before making derogatory remarks about other women.”
Another comment urged Surekha to apologize to KTR and his family as well. Other users suggested her statement was merely a retraction, not a genuine apology for the initial claims.
