Investigation into Double Homicide in Beautiful Union
A joint investigation by the Police and the Artigas Prosecutor’s Office is underway following a double homicide that occurred in Beautiful Union on January 1.
Details of the Incident
According to initial reports, a 16-year-old teenager allegedly killed his 52-year-old mother and 76-year-old grandmother using multiple stab wounds.
The teenager then attempted to take his own life but was discovered by the Police and rushed to a local hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Artigas, where he remains in serious condition under police guard.
Scene of the Crime
Police reports indicate that the grandmother’s body was found in the dining room of the house on Italia Street, with evidence of abundant bleeding and multiple stab wounds.
The teenager’s mother was found in the kitchen, still alive but succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical attention at the hospital emergency room. She also had multiple stab wounds.
The teenager was discovered by the Police in a bedroom, with self-inflicted wounds caused by the same knife used in the double homicide.
