The IEM Melbourne 2025 concluded with Team Vitality taking down Falcons in an intense CS2 final.
This was Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov’s first tournament with Falcons, and they made it to the final but faced a strong Vitality team on a 20-match winning streak.
The final was a best-of-five series that went the distance.
Vitality dominated the first map, Inferno, winning 13-2.
Falcons bounced back on Dust2, taking the map 16-12 in overtime to tie the series 1-1.
The back-and-forth continued with Vitality taking Train 13-9, but Falcons responded on Mirage, winning 13-10 to force a deciding fifth map.
The final map, Nuke, was a nail-biter.
Falcons led 12-6 but Vitality staged an incredible comeback, forcing overtime and eventually winning after 42 rounds.
The Aftermath
With the win, Vitality claimed the ESL Grand Slam title and pocketed around $125,000.
Their winning streak now stands at 21 matches, solidifying their dominance.
It’s worth noting that m0NESY’s transfer to Falcons reportedly cost around $2.5 million.
Despite the high price tag, Falcons fell short against Vitality.
Vitality celebrated their victory on social media, proudly declaring themselves the “ESL Grand Slam Champions” and “IEM Melbourne Champions.”
