Team India’s T20 WC Record: Will Unprecedented drought continue?

The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, has made it to the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup, with three consecutive wins. Interestingly, this is the first time in the tournament’s history that Team India has reached the Super 8 without playing the last match of the league due to rain.

Only one batsman from India has managed to score a century in the T20 World Cup’s history, and that is Suresh Raina, who scored 101 runs against South Africa in 2010. Strikingly, no batsman has been able to score a century against India.

Chris Gayle of the West Indies holds the record for the highest score against India in the T20 World Cup, with 98 runs in 2010, missing a century by just two runs. Alex Hales of England comes second with 86 not out in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

With the Super 8 phase about to begin, it will be fascinating to see if any batsman breaks this record and scores a century against India, or if this streak continues. The Super 8 matches will feature India taking on several strong teams, so it remains to be seen if any Indian batsman can break the drought of centuries.
