India’s playing XI will be changed in the second game of the two-Test series against South Africa. The main reason for the change in India’s playing line-up is the crushing defeat by an innings and 32 runs in the first Test. Due to this, Avesh Khan has been included in the squad for the match which will be played from January 3rd. In the second Test, two to three changes can be seen in Team India.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will definitely play in the second Test. Since Jadeja was not fit, he was not part of the starting XI in the first Test. But now he will replace R Ashwin in the playing XI. R Ashwin failed to contribute with the ball and bat in the first Test. Ashwin scored 8 runs in the first innings while he returned to the pavilion in the second innings without opening the account on the first ball. Ashwin also proved ineffective with the ball and could only take one wicket in 19 overs.
Prasidh Krishna got a chance to make his debut in the first Test. Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid’s bet on Krishna turned out to be a flop. Krishna was severely attacked by the South African batsmen. Krishna bowled 93 runs in 20 overs and managed to take just one wicket. After proving so costly, Krishna will definitely be out of the starting XI. Instead of Krishna, Avesh Khan gets a chance.
Iyer and Gill are also on target after the batsmen’s poor performance in the first Test. Gill has not yet been able to prove himself in the Test format. After 19 Tests, Gill’s batting average is only 31, which can be considered very poor. However, the team management will continue to believe in Gill and he will be seen at number three in the second Test.
Iyer remains on target due to his poor performance against short bowling. In the first Test, Iyer tried to stay at the crease by playing an innings of 31 runs. In such a situation, the team management will definitely give him another chance.
