The Indian cricket team has won the Asia Cup title for the eighth time. In the last match, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets to win their second consecutive ODI Asia Cup title. Team India set many records with this spectacular victory, but even after becoming champions, they fell short of a world record. While Team India did something that changed history after 39 years.

In 1984, Team India won the first Asia Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka, but not only that, India also won the game there by 10 wickets. Now in 2023, Indian team defeated Sri Lanka again by 10 wickets and won their 8th title. In this match, the Sri Lankan team playing first was restricted to 50 runs in 15.2 overs. While the Indian team won the match by 10 wickets by scoring 51 runs in 6.1 overs.

This world record was not set

If we talk about ODI cricket, Team India missed out on breaking the world record of winning the match by achieving the target in the fewest overs. If the Indian team had won this game in 3.4 overs, it would have been a record. But India set this record in 6.1 overs. However, this was India’s biggest win in ODI cricket as they reached the target with most balls remaining.

What was the state of the final?

If we talk about the final match then in this match the entire Sri Lankan team collapsed for 50 runs due to 6 wickets of Mohammed Siraj, 3 wickets of Hardik Pandya and 1 wicket of Jasprit Bumrah. In reply, Indian captain Rohit Sharma did not come to bat. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill started the innings. Kishan remained unbeaten on 23 runs off 18 balls and Shubhman Gill remained unbeaten on 27 runs off 19 balls. India won the match by 10 wickets by scoring 51 runs in 6.1 overs. India became champions of the Asian Cup for the eighth time. This was India’s second consecutive Asia Cup trophy under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
