The signature of Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was also visible on the jersey. Additionally, Virat Kohli separately gifted Elgar a jersey with his name on it.

In a picture, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was seen handing over the Indian jersey to South Africa's Dean Elgar, which had the signatures of the Indian players including the head coach. Furthermore, in the second picture, Virat Kohli was seen handing over the jersey with his name on it to Dean Elgar with a smile. Elgar was seen placing his hand on the Indian batsman's shoulder.

Dean Elgar played mainly Test cricket for Africa. He had already announced that the Test series against India would be the last red-ball international series of his career. Elgar played a total of 86 Tests in his career, scoring 5347 runs in 152 innings at an average of 37.92. During this period, 14 centuries and 23 half-centuries came from his bat. It is noteworthy that Elgar made his Test debut in December 2012. However, he had previously made his international debut in August.
