Keeping tabs on the kids while letting them explore is a modern parenting challenge. TCL, a brand known for its tech, is stepping into this space. Their new Movetime MT48 smartwatch for kids aims to bridge that gap. This device, fresh from the Chinese tech company, balances safety features with tools for creative play.

One of the biggest worries for parents is knowing where their child is. This watch uses advanced dual-band GPS, called L1+L5, for super precise location tracking. It even has anti-jamming tech, so it works well in busy places or areas with many buildings. Parents can draw virtual lines on a map using the TCL Connect app. These “safe zones” send an alert if a child wanders outside them.
For emergencies, a quick press of the SOS button sends an instant alert and the child’s location to their parents. It is like having a digital guardian angel on their wrist.

Beyond location, keeping in touch is simple. The MT48 allows 4G video calls and clear VoLTE voice calls. Kids can share photos safely, but parents always have control. There is even a “shake to add friend” feature, though it will not work without a parent’s OK. Privacy is a big deal here, with the watch following strict rules like GDPR, ISO 27701, and ISO 27001 standards. This ensures all communication stays secure.
Kids are active, so the watch needs to keep up. A 900 mAh battery offers 2.5 days of use, or a full week on standby. Plus, it is built tough with 2ATM water resistance. This means it can handle splashes and even a dip in the swimming pool.

School hours need focus, not distractions. The “School Time” mode, controlled by parents, shuts off games and chats when it is time to learn. But fun is not forgotten: an AI image tool lets kids get artistic. There is also a step counter to encourage them to move and play.

The Movetime MT48 hits shelves in October 2025. It launches in Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy, and France first. You will find it for 150 Euros. Kids can pick from four cool colors: Galactic Blue, Cosmic Pink, Lunar Cream, or Nebula Grey. TCL plans to bring the watch to more countries in the future.
