TCL presented several teams at CES 2022, but the one that arouses the most curiosity is its latest folding. The team is called the TCL Flex V and it was designed for the masses.
It is a shell-shaped device, which inherits the appearance of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip. But the best feature of the TCL Flex V is its price of $ 600 or € 528.
TCL Flex V democratizes access to folding smartphones
When we look at the folding segment we are used to seeing devices with values above € 1000, some even exceed € 2000. So when we learn that one will be released for less than € 600, the question is what sacrifices will be made.
The main difference between this TCL Flex V and its main competitors is the processor used. This model will launch with the Snapdragon 765G, a mid-range SoC that equipped many mid-ranges in 2020 and 2021.
In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 launched with the Snapdragon 888 processor, the top Android chip in 2021. That is, TCL has saved a lot of money choosing this processor for almost two years.

The remaining specifications of the TCL Flex V include an internal display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. Details such as the diagonal of this panel and its refresh rate have not yet been made public.
On the outside there is a small 1.1-inch screen, like the original Galaxy Z Flip. This will serve to read some notifications and other essential information without having to open the smartphone.
As for its cameras, the TCL Flex V comes equipped with a 48 MP sensor and a 16 MP one. For selfies, this foldable smartphone has a 44MP lens.
It’s also worth noting that when folded this TCL Flex V leaves almost no space between its halves. This approach should leave a smaller crease in the display of this foldable, filling a widely noted flaw in any foldable gear.
TCL did a small demo of the Flex V at CES 2022, however it did not say when the smartphone will be released to the market. This detail will be revealed in due course.
