Taylor Swift wants to sue young man for publishing data about her flights

Taylor Swift’s lawyers have threatened legal action against a student who monitors her (and other celebrities’) flights on her private jet.

This is Jack Sweeney, a student at the University of Central Florida, who received a letter from Swift’s lawyers saying “I would have no choice but to seek every single legal remedy” if he doesn’t stop his “stalking and harassing behavior.”

Her legal team mentioned that Jack’s surveillance caused “direct and irreparable harm, physical and psychological distress” to the artist.

“While for you this is a game or a path that you hope will bring you wealth or fame, for our client it is a matter of life and death,” wrote attorney Katie Wright Morrone.

Sweeney told The Washington Post that he viewed the letter as an attempt to intimidate him into stopping sharing public data (Federal Aviation Administration).

It’s not the first time Sweeney has clashed with a public figure, as Elon Musk also disagreed with the tracking of information from his air travel.

For this reason, Musk, the owner of X (Twitter), suspended Sweeney’s “@ElonJet” account on the platform in December 2022.

Taylor Swift has used her private plane multiple times in the last few months

Taylor Swift has been repeatedly criticized for the pollution caused by her private flights, both to fulfill her professional obligations as an artist and to attend her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s NFL games.

In the face of criticism, she purchased carbon credits to double offset the Eras Tour trips. (It should be said that experts have questioned the usefulness of carbon credits, viewing them as “greenwashing” rather than a real solution.)
