Taylor Swift recently shared a sweet secret about her engagement to Travis Kelce. It turns out, her fiancé didn’t just pick a ring; he designed a truly special one.
"He designed it with this amazing jeweler, Kindred Lubeck," Swift, 35, shared during an interview on Friday, October 3, with the British broadcaster Heart. She added that Lubeck is known for doing all her gold engravings by hand, giving each piece a unique touch. Kelce, also 35, apparently found this top-notch artisan through Swift herself.
Swift chuckled as she told Heart hosts Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston about the connection. "I showed him a video I thought was really cool," she explained. "I showed him a video a year and a half ago, and it turns out he was paying attention to everything!" Kelce remembered the jeweler from that video, making the ring even more personal.
He popped the question to Swift back in August. The ring itself is a stunning old mine cut diamond. It sits on a gold band that also features smaller stones and has a delicate, thin bezel.
Swift’s reaction to seeing the ring was priceless. "When I saw the ring, I was like [gasp]," she joked during the interview. "I said, ‘I know who made that! I know who made that! And also, you listen to me.’ He did it incredibly, it was like, ‘You really know me.’" She felt truly understood. Swift also pointed out, "I didn’t know what I would want, but he somehow knew, and that’s quite a display."

While promoting her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift also gave Heart listeners a peek into her initial thoughts on wedding planning. "You’d think I’d have been one of those people obsessed with the idea of a wedding my whole life," she admitted. "But I honestly never thought about what I’d do or want until I met the person." Because of this, she hasn’t even considered things like a bachelorette party.
Swift was clear that she and Kelce "haven’t really even started" planning their big day. She’s currently enjoying her Showgirl era. (Swift recorded the album while on the European leg of her Eras Tour in 2024.) "We’re taking baby steps," she shared. "We’re moving forward step by step. I’m loving this era, and I love the theme of this album. It’s so much fun to play with. I want to make more music videos, I actually have time to do things like that. I can’t move on to anything else because I’m having too much fun with this. I mean, I just got engaged. These things just happened to me."
Despite the slow start to planning, Swift is really looking forward to marrying Kelce. "I’m also very excited," she said. "He’s the most fun person and lives life in a natural way; he’s never been nervous about anything. He’s so much fun. He has it all: he is fun, vibrant, has an infectious personality, and makes me laugh so much."
It’s no surprise that Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, inspired many songs on The Life of a Showgirl. "There’s a line in [one of] the songs that says: ‘You just wanted a best friend who you found attractive,’" Swift explained about "Wi$h Li$t." This was the very last song she wrote for Showgirl. She concluded, "Well, that’s basically it."
