Tax department raided BJP leader’s house, recovered thousands of sarees

During a raid at the house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member Legislative Council R Shankar in the Indian state of Karnataka, things were recovered that surprised everyone.

According to media reports, Commercial Tax Department officers raided R Shankar’s house based on intelligence and recovered 6,000 sarees, 9,000 school bags and household items in large numbers.

It is being told that R Shankar had to distribute these items to the people before the Karnataka assembly elections so that his party could get maximum votes.

According to the Commercial Tax Department, which took seven hours to search the BJP leader’s house, the recovered items, worth around INR 20-30 lakh, were handed over to the local police.

The tax department directed R Shankar to submit his reply within three days regarding the exported goods.

If the BJP leader fails to show the bill for the exported goods, the department will register a case against them and initiate action, an officer said.
