A devastating plane crash in Ahmedabad, India, has left hundreds dead and many more injured. The Air India flight, AI 171, was headed to London with 242 people on board when it crashed into a medical hostel in the western part of the city.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane crashed just after taking off from the airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. So far, 204 bodies have been found, but it’s not clear how many of them were on the plane and how many were people on the ground.
Tata Group, the owner of Air India, has announced that it will give 10 million rupees (about 3.78 million baht) to the families of each person who died in the crash. They will also pay for the medical treatment of all the injured people.
At least one person, a British man named Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, has been found alive. He was sitting in seat 11A. Many medical students were sent to the hospital for treatment, and at least four people are still missing.
There were 230 passengers on the plane, including 169 Indians, 53 British people, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian. There were also 12 crew members.
