Tarragona suffered a serious ligament injury

Cristian Tarragona, Gimnasia striker, suffered a ligament injury and will have to undergo surgery, the club’s medical staff confirmed this Friday, which will require a recovery of about six months. The part indicates that the soccer player will be treated in kinesiology until the surgery is performed.

Tarragona’s diagnosis marks a severe sprain of the right knee with compromise of the anterior cruciate ligament, external meniscus, and partial rupture of the internal lateral ligament. The striker was injured midway through the second half of the game that Gimnasia tied with Platense in Vicente López and was replaced by Franco Soldano.

It is terrible news for DT Néstor Gorosito, since the former Board of Trustees was going through a great moment and was the best player on the team. Tarragona arrived at Gymnastics at the beginning of this year, he has a valid contract until December 31 and the leadership was already planning to offer him an extension.

The attacker has played 18 games so far this year and has scored 11 goals, two in the current tournament, against Estudiantes and Patronato. From the medical body they informed the Télam agency that in the course of the week he will be observed to schedule the intervention. Within the “Lobo” squad, Gorosito has Soldano as a striker, plus Alexis Domínguez and Nicolás Contín, both with a long inactivity due to the same type of injury, although they already have a medical discharge and train normally.
