Tania Calvo finishes eleventh in the scratch test

The Spanish Tania Calvo finished in eleventh position her performance in the scratch test of the track cycling World Cups that started this Wednesday in the French town of Roubaix (broadcast by Eurosport) and in which the Italian Martina Fidanza won. In this way, the cyclist from Vitoria improved in a position the twelfth place achieved in the Europeans disputed at the beginning of this month of October in the Swiss town of Grenchen.

After the first thirty-four laps of the forty -10 kilometers- of which the sctatch test consists of the Hungarian Johana Borissza after passing without any shock he broke up hostilities with an attack with six laps remaining. An attack to which only the Italian Martina Fidanza responded, who after catching the Magyar cyclist continued with her acceleration until she reached a sufficient advantage to win the solo victory.

The final offensive surprised the great favorite, the American Jennifer Valente, a silver medalist at the 2020 World Cups in Berlin, who finally had to settle for bronze after being overtaken in the final sprint by the Dutch Maike van der Duin, who won silver. For its part, the men’s speed team, made up of Alejandro Martínez, Juan Peralta and Ekain Jiménez could not pass the qualifying phase, after finishing the preliminary round with a time of 45.460 seconds in eleventh position.
