The Big Idea, Bigger Cast
“Do You Wanna Partner” mixes a brilliant business idea with the tough climb of launching a brand. Then it throws in some relationship misunderstandings and fierce market competition. The series packs all these ingredients into eight episodes. Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty play two ambitious women determined to make something of their lives. When a show boasts a large cast, expectations automatically soar. Here, you’ll also see Jaaved Jaaferi, Shweta Tiwari, Rannvijay Singha, and Nakuul Mehta. We’ll soon see if they truly impressed or not. However, one clear lesson from this series is: never let business come between friends. Let’s dig into what you can expect from this new offering.

The Origin Story
Our story begins with Shikha Roy Chowdhury, played by Tamannaah Bhatia. She loses her corporate job after her company is bought out. Tired of the corporate grind, Shikha decides to chase a long-held dream of her father: creating her own beer. The catch? She has no money and her best friend, Anahita (Diana Penty), isn’t on board. Anahita, though performing well at her own job, feels betrayed when a male colleague gets a promotion she deserved. This unfair treatment pushes Anahita to join Shikha. Together, they begin to turn Shikha’s brewing dream into a business reality.

To start, they find a beer maker named Bobby Bagga (Nakuul Mehta). But finding a brewery, a plant to make the beer, proves difficult. No one wants to take a chance on two women starting a new business. Then, a strange twist of fate occurs. Anahita loses her voice, which suddenly sounds deep and hoarse. When she speaks on the phone, people mistake her for a man, making them more willing to invest. Even with this unexpected advantage, they still need money. Bobby introduces them to Laila Singh (Shweta Tiwari), a powerful associate of a gangster. She loans them a hefty 2 crore.
With perseverance and clever marketing, they successfully launch their beer. But that’s just the beginning. The real fight kicks off when Walia, the man who stole Shikha’s father’s original beer formula years ago and built a massive company, returns. He’s ready to use every trick to crush his old friend’s daughter’s new venture. Will their company survive the cutthroat market? Will their personal relationships get so complicated that the business collapses? And what’s Jaaved Jaaferi’s crucial role in all this? You’ll have to watch the series to find out.
Direction: A Mixed Bag
The series was directed by Archit Kumar and Collin D’Cunha, and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment. The direction left me quite disappointed. The story has an emotional core, a friend betraying a friend, but this serious element isn’t given the weight it deserves. The show leans too heavily on comedy, pushing the main emotional flavor aside. When characters are trying to overcome past family mistakes, you expect to feel a strong connection, but that feeling is largely absent here. The direction and screenplay could have been much stronger.

Direction
The series was directed by Archit Kumar and Collin D’Cunha. It was produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment. When it comes to the direction, you might feel quite let down. The series is built on an emotional story of a friend backstabbing another. However, this isn’t handled with enough seriousness. The creators focused too much on comedy, pushing the main emotional core to the background. When watching a story where children learn from their parents’ mistakes to move forward, you expect a deep emotional connection. This connection felt very much missing in the series. Both the direction and the screenplay could have been significantly improved.
Performance Report
Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty really tried their best to do justice to their roles. Despite their efforts, the bland story and weak screenplay prevented their acting from truly shining. Rannvijay Singha’s character, Kabir, felt shoehorned into the plot. He didn’t seem to have a significant role in the story. It often felt like the characters didn’t have much exciting to do. The series was quite predictable in many parts. If the emotional aspects had been explored more deeply, instead of just as jokes, the actors might have been able to elevate the series with their performances.

Acting
Regarding the acting in the series, Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty largely tried to do justice to their respective roles. However, despite their efforts, the bland story and screenplay meant the acting also lacked much impact. It felt like Rannvijay’s character, ‘Kabir,’ was forced into the middle of the story. His role didn’t seem to contribute significantly to the plot. It often felt like the characters didn’t have much unique to do. The series felt quite predictable in many places. However, if emotions had been portrayed better, rather than just as jokes, the actors could have improved the series somewhat with their performances.
Missed Opportunities and Plot Holes
The first few episodes of “Do You Wanna Partner” can be quite a drag. Just when things start to get interesting, you realize the series is almost over. There isn’t a single memorable song to uplift the mood. Bits and pieces of songs from other films are used, but they don’t really make an impact. Plus, there are some head-scratching moments. For instance, a character with amnesia conveniently remembers everything when it’s crucial for the plot. Also, Shikha shares every tiny detail with her best friend, but for some reason, she keeps a major business secret from her. These inconsistencies just add to the feeling of a missed opportunity.

Flaws
If you watch this series, the initial episodes might feel quite boring. Just as your interest starts to build, you find out the series is about to end. There isn’t a single song in the series that can captivate your mind. Bits and pieces of songs from other films are used intermittently, but they also don’t prove very effective. Besides this, you’ll see several things that don’t make sense. For example, a person has amnesia, but when it comes to their main task, they don’t forget anything. Additionally, Shikha shares every tiny detail with her best friend, but for some reason, she doesn’t tell her about such a big business matter.
The Final Verdict
So, should you watch “Do You Wanna Partner”? If you’re looking for a light watch that doesn’t demand much thought, or if you’re interested in business stories, then it might be worth a look. If you’re simply trying to beat boredom, this could be a decent option. However, some viewers might finish it feeling that remaining bored without watching anything would have been a better choice. The series lands a 1.5 out of 5 from us.

Should you watch it or not?

If you’re feeling bored anyway, this could be a decent option for you. But yes, some people might feel after watching it that feeling bored without watching anything is a better option.
