Taliban spokesman interview to Israeli media, what are the facts?

Taliban spokesman Sohail Shaheen yesterday gave an interview on Israeli television in which he spoke about Afghanistan’s comprehensive foreign policy. Upon learning of the facts from Sama Digital, it was revealed that Sohail Shaheen did not know that she was speaking to an Israeli outlet.

Sohail Shaheen told Cannes reporter Ravi Qais that minority rights in Afghanistan would be protected during the Taliban era. He has given the same guarantee for the protection of Zabulun Semantov, a carpet merchant who has been called “the last Jew in Afghanistan.”

The Times of Israel says Shaheen was interviewed by phone and did not realize he was speaking to Israeli television.

In her tweet, Sohail Shaheen said that she had not interviewed anyone posing as a member of the Israeli media.

The law does not mean death

The interview has sparked controversy on social media, with some people making various accusations against Taliban spokesperson Sohail Shaheen.

According to an interview with Cannes News, Sohail Shaheen said that people should not be afraid and should not flee because enforcing Sharia law does not mean killing people, but peace and stability.

Sohail Shaheen said the Taliban wanted to make sure that lives and property were protected in Afghanistan and that everyone led a normal life. He said that he did not understand why people fled Kabul when they should remain in peace.

When asked about the last Afghan Jew, a Taliban spokesman said: “I don’t know the last Jew, but we are not harming minorities. There are Sikhs and Hindus in the country who can practice their religion.
