The leader of the Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar, has described Sunday’s stage as “decisive” due to the inclusion of 14 unpaved sectors. The Slovenian cyclist does not see any clear favorite to win the stage, stating that there is no one who stands out.
“I’ve seen the stage and it could be very interesting, a lot of things can happen, we’ll have to be focused from start to finish,” said Pogacar.
Pogacar, who is seeking his third Tour victory, emphasized that there is no clear favorite to win the stage. He cited Mads Pedersen, who has retired, and added that the winner will be a “great runner”.
Pogacar, who recently competed in the Giro d’Italia, does not feel fatigued from the experience. “It seems to me that the Giro was a long time ago. Now I am totally focused on the Tour,” he said.
He also expressed confidence in his team, highlighting the strong performance of Spaniard Juan Ayuso and Portuguese Joao Almeida, who are well located in the general classification. “We’ll see if they hold on in the third week. The atmosphere in the team is very good,” Pogacar said.
Pogacar, who has the support of the strongest team in the Tour, believes that his team has a good chance of winning the stage. “So far, everything is going very well,” he said.
