Tadej Pogacar: 2028 Retirement ‘Never on the Table,’ Committed to 2030 Contract

Slovenian cycling star Tadej Pogačar has dismissed speculation that he will retire in 2028, reaffirming his commitment to the sport and his UAE Emirates team until at least 2030.

The rider explicitly refuted reports suggesting an early departure after the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Such a scenario had been advanced by some media outlets following the Tour de France.

“The idea of ending my career in 2028 was never on the table,” Pogačar stated in an interview with ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’.

He confirmed his current contractual obligation.

“I signed a contract until 2030 and if nothing crazy happens, I will honor it,” he added. “If I wasn’t clear about that, I wouldn’t have committed.”

Pogačar expressed strong loyalty to his team. He noted that UAE Emirates continues to improve annually, making him feel part of a family.

“I don’t see myself anywhere else,” he said. “If I decide to race beyond 2030, it will most likely be with UAE.”

The celebrated cyclist indicated that time would ultimately shape his long-term future.

“There is still plenty of time to decide, but I am calm, I enjoy this sport and I have no problems,” Pogačar concluded.
